Manly is located 16 miles South of the Minnesota Border and is conveniently located at the Junction of Highways 65 and 9. Two major cities are located within 125 miles-Minneapolis to the North and Des Moines to the South. Manly is approximately 1.5 square miles with a population of approximately 1,323 (2010 Census) and 560 households.
History of Manly:
In 1877, the Burlington/Cedar Rapids & Northern Railroad (BCR&N) joined the Central of Iowa track with its own track from Plymouth Junction. The site was named Manly Junction after Central of Iowa's freight agent, J.C. Manly.
On October 18, 1898, Manly Junction was incorporated as the Town of Manly, and then in August of 1973, the Town of Manly officially became the "City of Manly" under the State of Iowa's Home Rule Act.
